Cycling and walking

To plan a cycling or walking route to the university use a map such as Open Street Map which shows all public footway or a journey planner such as Cyclestreets.net.

The university has over 350 cycle spaces across both campuses. Bicycles should be securely locked to cycle parking to prevent theft.

Hire bikes

The University has docking stations at both campuses with Cycle CoNNect, allowing staff, students and visitors to hire bikes for an hour or all day. Pick a bike up from the rail station and dock it at our campus for your meeting.

Cycle CoNNect is a self-service bike hire scheme that you can use to travel around Northampton quickly and cheaply. We have a network of nine Cycle CoNNect docking stations across Northampton (including at Avenue and Park Campus) where you can hire and return a bicycle. There will be 50 bikes available to hire across the network at any time of the day, every day. You will need to register online as a member of Cycle CoNNect before you can hire a bike.

Bicycles can be used for 30 minutes free of charge. Membership to the scheme is Free and you can register online using the website, or by phone on 01604 372014. There is a minimum initial top-up charge of £3 per membership, which will be credited to your account. The Cycle CoNNect website gives you more information on how to access the scheme, costs, station and bike locations.
