Gemma Lovegrove was elected Vice President Education at the University of Northampton Students’ Union following a cross campus ballot. Her manifesto points included improving the representation and diversity of the Student Voice, increasing student opportunities, and becoming fully immersed in improving student experience and satisfaction.
Gemma joined the University of Northampton as a mature student. She studied a joint honours course in Health Studies with Social Care, achieving a First-Class degree with Honours. Before joining the University, Gemma worked in the NHS for a decade which, along with her degree, helped to develop effective communication skills and an ability and passion for championing the needs of others.
Gemma has previously volunteered for the Students’ Union as a Course Representative and then later as a Faculty Representative, giving student feedback at faculty-level meetings. Gemma is enthusiastic about joining the Board of Governors at an exciting time as the University settles into the Waterside campus and explores the new opportunities it brings, especially for the development of new teaching styles and student support services.
