Kate Coulson

Head of Learning Development, The University of Northampton

Kate Coulson is the Head of Learning Development at the University of Northampton. The Learning Development team comprises of tutors who support the academic, mathematical and study skills of all students at the University via one-to-one support, workshops, drop-ins and open educational resources. A large part of Kate’s work is leading the support offered to students transitioning into, through and beyond undergraduate programmes and postgraduate provision. In recent years some of this has been undertaken via open online courses and also involvement in University-wide projects such as the “First Year Experience” project and more recently the “Enhancing Student Success” project.

Kate has an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Manchester and an MSc from City University. She is also a Chartered Librarian, has a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
