Making your own way
We understand that not all of our students will be able to arrive on the ‘Meet and Greet’ dates. To make your own way to the University, all you need to do is to plan and budget for your travel. We hope this price checklist will assist with this and make your journey to the University of Northampton more enjoyable.
If you need any further help then please remember that you can contact us on email@example.com and we will offer you a warm welcome and advice.

Travelling by taxi – booked through the university
We are able to book taxis for students travelling from local airports and Northampton train or bus station. In order to book a taxi please ensure you complete the online arrivals notification form selecting that you would like the University to book you a taxi. Please note that bookings must be submitted at least 48 working hours in advance of your arrival. After you have submitted this form you will receive an email confirmation of your booking and emergency telephone numbers should you require any assistance on arrival.
Taxis from the airport will be booked for two hours after your expected arrival time, giving you plenty of time to go through immigration and customs. The driver will meet you at the public arrivals area which is located after customs. He or she will be holding a University of Northampton sign. Please see the list below for taxi fees. The fee needs to be paid directly to the driver on arrival at the University, so please make sure that you have enough UK money to pay for your taxi.
- Birmingham – £60
- London Gatwick – £110
- London Heathrow – £80
- London Luton – £55
- London Stansted – £85
All fees are subject to an extra £10 per hour waiting charge if you are delayed longer than one hour at the airport.
If you are making your own travel arrangements we advise students book a taxi through a company that is approved by the University:
Changes to your arrival plans
Please note that if you fail to take your taxi for any reason you will still be liable to pay the fee. If you wish to cancel your taxi please ensure you do so at least one working day beforehand.
We do not recommend that students take a taxi that we have not booked for them because they can be very expensive (in excess of £200). If you should choose to take a taxi that is not booked by the University please ensure that you take a taxi from the official taxi rank. Under no circumstances should you use a non-licensed taxi as they are illegal.
