Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) Information
Upon making a successful Tier 4 General Visa application you will be issued with a 30 day entry permit (temporary vignette) in your passport which will enable you to enter the UK. After 31 July 2015, anyone applying outside the UK for a visa longer than six months will receive this new type of permit.
In addition, you will receive a decision letter outlining the conditions of your immigration leave and details stating when and where to collect your BRP Card. When you enter the UK you should show the Border Force Officer your 30-day vignette and your decision letter.
The University will not be providing an Alternative Collection Location (ACL) code. You should provide the University’s post code when completing your Tier 4 online application to ensure that you are able to collect your BRP card from Northampton General Post Office. If you have nominated an alternative Post Office, full details regarding collection will be provided in your decision letter.
You must collect your BRP card within 10 days of your arrival in the UK from the Post Office detailed in your decision letter. If you do not collect your BRP card within 10 days of your arrival in the UK you may be subject to a financial penalty or cancellation of your leave. You do not require an appointment to collect your BRP card.
How will I know if my BRP Card is ready for collection?
When you arrive at the University you will need to make an appointment to enrol on your course. We will be able to advise you at this time if your BRP card is ready for collection at Northampton Post Office. If your BRP card is not ready for collection we will contact you via email to advise when it has arrived and is ready for collection.

Your decision letter will tell you from when and where when you can collect your BRP.
