The schedule of the keeping in touch activities between students and tutors and providers, should be included in the handbook information.
The frequency would depend on the duration of the WBL. For example for a one year placement, we would expect 10 ‘keeping in touch’ activities to be planned – a mix of email, two visits/Skype/Collaborate, and an optional weekend or University session.
Attendance monitoring is also a requirement. This is fully supported for students and tutors by the Office of Placements and Work-based Learning, using a web based tool called MyProgress. We will train users, set up the system, and escalate issues of non-attendance to programme teams. The system also provides compliance for International student attendance monitoring.
