International Women’s Day is marked annually on Monday 8 March with a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Here at UON, we will be taking these celebrations further with a week of activity, bringing together staff from across the institution to explore development, equality and achievement.

Monday 8 March, 10am – 11am

‘This time it’s personal’. A session with Professor Shân Wareing

We are starting our week of celebration with a session hosted by Professor Shân Wareing, UON’s Deputy Vice Chancellor. Shân will be sharing personal perspectives on this year’s International Women’s Day theme #choosetochallenge and will highlight key experiences that have shaped her career to date.

Confronting Gender Bias staff training

Gender bias, whether deliberate or unconscious, is holding women back.

It makes it harder for women to get hired and promoted and impacts their day to day work experiences.  In this course, we will learn concrete steps to address gender bias head on.

To book onto the session visit U4BW Self Service and search ‘Confronting Gender Bias’ in the Course Catalogue.
