Lecturer delivering a course to his students

What next for the people of Syria, and how does the media shape our understanding and perspective?

On the initiative on Matthew Hunt, a local resident of Northampton, the University of Northampton invites you to an event exploring the complex history of the conflict in Syria, the ongoing impact on the people of the region and how the media shapes our understanding of this and other global events. Ron Mendel, Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Politics, and Shawky Arif, Lecturer in International Development, both from the University of Northampton, will provide a historical and political context for the conflict.
Ron and Shawky will be joined by the Telegraph photojournalist Will Wintercross, who has reported on numerous conflict zones and incidents of humanitarian crisis, and a representative of The Red Cross. We are also fortunate to be able to share the experiences of a resident of Aleppo and hear their first-hand account of escaping the conflict with support from The Red Cross.
