The Preventing Well Pillar is about promoting positive brain health, minimising the risk of developing dementia in all population groups; and intervening early to delay onset or slow progression of the disease.

The Prevention Conference will present and examine some of these areas as part of a system-wide County approach to age well and live your best life.

The aims of this day Conference will be to:-

  • Explore national and international perspectives on risk reduction and prevention approaches in dementia.
  • Highlight the impact on future generations of positive brain health strategies
  • Present research that could assist with the earlier identification of cognitive decline.
  • Showcase specifically designed community-based interventions for MCI and early-stage dementia that promote cognitive wellbeing. Reset the ‘Preventing Well Pillar’ of the ICN Dementia Strategy (May 2024).

The day will also include:

  • Brain Gym: a Teacher-led intervention for early stages of cognitive decline [based on the Danish Lifelong learning Concept].
  • Poster Presentations.
  • Round Robin Workshop Activity.
