These 3 hour long sessions will focus on a variety of health issues for example child mental health, infant nutrition and childhood obesity, enhancing physical activity and the management of childhood illness.

Sharon Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Early Years / Child Health at The University of Northampton. She is a registered nurse and health visitor with over twenty years’ experience in family and community practice. Her role specialized in promoting health and wellbeing in babies and young children prior to entering Higher Education. Her main research interests are infant nutrition, childhood obesity and mental health with a specific focus on health education within the Early Years. Sharon is also an academic advisor for the All Party Parliamentary Group ‘A Fit and Healthy Childhood’ She has contributed to many APPG reports , the latest being The National Obesity Forum. Sharon is programme leader for the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Degree and acts as an external advisor on early years courses.
