CER Seminar: Play in Early Childhood Classrooms in Irish Primary Schools
Wed 10 March 2021
16:30 – 17:30
CENTRE FOR EDUCATION AND RESEARCH SPRING SEMINAR
Play in Early Childhood Classrooms in Irish Primary Schools.
In this presentation, Dr Sinéad McNally will outline several studies on play in early childhood classrooms in Ireland, with a special focus on findings regarding play practices in ECE to support children during the pandemic. Studies employed a survey design and included questionnaire and interview methods. Findings indicate broad support among teachers for play-based pedagogies in early childhood classrooms, especially in the context of reopening schools after closures due to Covid-19. Findings regarding play for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the role of play in supporting inclusive early childhood educational practices, will also be discussed.
Facilitated by the Centre for Education and Research. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
This event is for UON and non-UON academics, teachers or others with an interest in education research.
