Staff Profile

  • Reece is an academic member of staff who teaches primarily on the BSc Sports Coaching programme. Reece’s academic qualifications include; a BSc Sports Coaching Degree and MSc Professional Practice in Sports Coaching Degree (awarded by Northumbria University), a PGCE (awarded by The University of Sunderland) and is nearing the completion of his PhD (awarded by Liverpool John Moores University).

    Reece has experience of working as a coach and performance analyst in various grassroots and professional football clubs. Reece has also worked alongside large National Governing Bodies and taught in primary, secondary, further education, and higher education institutions.

  • Reece is in the final stages of completing his PhD with Liverpool John Moores University. As part of his PhD, Reece has worked alongside The Football Association to gain an understanding of the development of coach education since 1967. This work has tracked the pedagogical development of FA coach education overtime and considered the influence of some social, political, and economic structures.

    Finally, Reece has explored present day coaches’ experiences of current provision to explore how courses meet the needs of the learners.
