Staff Profile

  • José Neves is a lecturer, photo-historian and curator. He holds a PhD in Photography from University of Ulster and a MA in Photographic History and Practice from De Montfort University.

  • José delivers the history and theory units on the BA (Hons) Photography course: Reading the Image (Level 4), Photography and Visual Culture Project (Level 5), Contextual Report / Practice Exhibition (Level 6). He also contributes to the practice units on the course, including Photography and Arts Practices (Level 5), Professional Practice (Level 6) and Practice Exhibition (Level 6).
     

  • José’s main areas of research include the history and historiography of the photobook, artist’s book history and photographic technology. His current research focuses on understanding the historical and material development of photobook practice.
