Gavin Douglas has recently become active in researching equality issues within Art and Design Higher Education, particularly with issues that impact people of colour. Douglas works towards producing research informed solutions that establish clear and measurable support structures and strategies that work towards progressive changes against race inequalities within HE.
Douglas sits on the Equality and Inclusion Forum at the University of Northampton, is the FAST Equality and Inclusion representative and is a Founding Co-Chair of the universities Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) Staff Network. Douglas is a member of Fashion Academics Creating Equality (FACE) and is an Academic Trustee of the Graduate Fashion Foundation.
Douglas has gained a Professional Graduate Certificate in Post Compulsory Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Douglas completed an MA in Fashion at Middlesex University where he was awarded the Deans Academic Excellence Award for demonstrating academic and professional excellence.
