Architectural Technology
Architectural Technology BSc (Hons)
Architectural technology is the application of science and technology to the design of buildings. It is a distinct discipline but at the same time a component of architecture, building engineering, construction and management. We encourage and support our students to acquire the relevant skills and knowledge require in the ever-changing building industry.
Sustainability is at the heart of our curriculum and this in response to the global demand for climate responsive buildings and significant reduction in carbon emissions throughout the lifecycle of buildings. Our students are taught by academics and professionals from the industry to design net zero carbon buildings using latest CAD and simulation software. On display is our graduating students final major project, which is reflection of application of knowledge and skills accrued over the three years of study.
The students were divided into two groups, with each group designing a building on the University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus. Group A were given a brief to design a Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Built Environment, while group B were tasked with the design of a university community centre, tagged ‘The University Gateway’. Each of the student from both groups worked independently with the support from their tutors to design sustainable building of industry standard based on the given briefs.
As you navigate through our students work, we hope you will be inspired to make the environment more sustainable.
