Course Content

  • The Fine Art (Top-Up) BA (Hons) year comprises three modules:

    • ART3018 Critical Study (20 credits). This module gives you the opportunity to research a subject of your choosing in some depth, and to prepare either a written essay or a reflective summary of a practical project.
    • ART3019 Professional Practice & Employability (20 credits). This module prepares you for a career in the arts sector, including the preparation of marketing materials, artist’s statement, identifying suitable career opportunities and the opportunity of developing a short practical activity (for example, a placement).
    • ART4013 Practice Exhibition (80 credits). This module is the heart of the years’ experience. With teaching support through tutorials, seminars and group discussions you will develop your personal art practice towards an ambitious exhibition of your artwork – the ‘Degree Show’.
    Study Visits

Each year, we programme study visits to a wide range of locations. Recent visits have included London galleries, Venice Biennale, Liverpool Biennial, New York and Berlin.

    Degree Show exhibition

Your year will conclude with the public exhibition of your artwork – the Degree Show – our showcase of your work for visiting curators and gallerists.

Please note the modules shown here relate to the academic year 23/24. The modules relating to the academic year 24/25 will be available from June 2024.
