Staff CPD & Subject Networks

School staff CPD – progression routes into higher education

Our colleagues in Aspire Higher have created a handy staff CPD training session to develop staff confidence and awareness of the higher education landscape, to enable class teachers and form tutors to have more in-depth conversations with KS2, 3 and 4 children. Aspire Higher are currently developing student workshops which will support the presentation, available to Aspire Higher schools in Northamptonshire. Explanatory notes to support the presentation are available on request from aspirehigher@northampton.ac.uk

Subject Networks

Subject networks are logistically co-ordinated by the University, but the intention is that you guide the agenda content each meeting. Each meeting also has a sharing good practice element to it to allow staff to network and share exemplar materials and practices. Please check the below drop-down menus for more information.

  • Coming in 2023 is a series of CPD workshops for teachers.  These will focus on subjects including Fine Art, Illustration and Photography.  Each will offer teachers an opportunity to share best practice, explore areas of the curriculum that UON can support and practice techniques that they can take back into the classroom.

    Dates to be announced soon.

To register your interest please email schoolsengagement@northampton.ac.uk

  • The University has a developed a CPD network for teachers of drama and performance studies.  Two workshops took place in Autumn 2022, with the sharing of good practice and staff explored techniques to take back into the classroom.

Workshop 1 was a devising masterclass. The workshop looked at how warmup is linked directly to the stimulus of the lesson and worked on material that keeps students engaged and, most importantly, invested in the work they are producing.

Workshop 2 explored organic links between physical building blocks and “the text”.

The next workshop will take place in Spring 2023.

If you would like to be a part of this growing network, please email schoolsengagement@northampton.ac.uk.
