Business Studies and Entrepreneurship Degrees and Masters

Course Structure

Compulsory modules will provide graduates with a good foundation of the subject. In the remaining years, some of your modules will be chosen by you, allowing you to select modules according to your own interests.

Our three-year single honours programmes at undergraduate level are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria and choose to take up a placement year, you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your future career. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.

Entry Requirements

Students partaking in our BA Business and Entrepreneurship degrees, as well as MA and MSc programmes, are asked to meet our standard entry requirements for the individual courses. For our international students, we ask that the English Language requirements of IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands for study are met at undergraduate level.

In regards to our procedure, we also ask that applicants read further about requirements, as they may vary between each course. Where you have already begun the application process, a standard procedure of a written essay or interview will be required by students.

Undergraduate Business Studies Degrees

We offer a wide range of Undergraduate Business Studies and Entrepreneurship Programmes at the University of Northampton to help you tailor your studies to your interests.

Business Studies Degrees

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge fit for a career in business. You will study areas such as marketing, finance, economics and management, allowing you to specialise too. It will provide you with the opportunity to develop specialist business expertise, while helping you learn key transferable skills.

BSc Digital Business is a direct response to the requirements from industry, where there is a shortage of graduates with skills aligned to the ever-increasing opportunities in digital businesses. Such opportunities are created because of the transformation of traditional businesses to digital businesses, and the emergence of numerous start-ups with a strong digital focus and business model.

This course gives you a practical grounding in a range of business disciplines such as accounting, human resource management, operations management and marketing.

Business and Management Degrees

Top up your HND or diploma with this one year intensive course. You can select your modules to meet your individual interests and career aspirations, such as marketing, finance, human resources and topical business modules.

Entry Requirements Students with an HND (Edexcel, ABE, NCC) or Foundation Degree in Business. International students to meet IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.

Business Entrepreneurship Degrees

Top up your HND or diploma with this one year intensive course. BA Business Entrepreneurship Top Up explores developing businesses from a practical perspective, giving you a grounding in business management and building your competence.

Entry Requirements Typical Offer: The required entry level is an HND/Diploma level qualification or equivalent in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Economics, International Development, or a similar business-related subject 

BA Entrepreneurship & Innovation provides you with the opportunity to network, experience and really ‘feel’ what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. You will develop your entrepreneurial skills, spirit and mindset. The programme enables you to grow as a future thinker and leader, confident in your business acumen, and able to respond in creative ways to dynamic environments.

Entry Requirements Typical Offer: A typical offer is around BCC at A Level or DMM at BTEC.

International Business Degrees

BA International Business is based on foreign travel and cultural immersion that will develop your knowledge and understanding of how business operates across national borders and will give you the skills needed to work, manage and lead effectively in an international or ethnically diverse business context.

This is a distinctive course where you will be exposed to other cultures and have the opportunity to analyse current cross-cultural issues, as well as the chance to develop your cultural intelligence, cross-cultural communication, management and leadership skills. If you have a keen interest in international business as well as current affairs, then this is the right course for you.

BA Commerce and International Business allows you to top-up your qualification to a BA (Hons) degree in international business. You will build upon your business and management skills, ready to start your own business or enter a range of sectors such as trading organisations, financial services, information technology, pharma, retail, and more.

Entry Requirements Typical Offer: Applications are welcomed from students with a HND (Edexcel, ABE, NCC) or Foundation Degree in Business (or overseas equivalent).

With the rise of globalisation, business operates across borders and continents, with English as the common language of commerce. This course will help you to gain the skills and knowledge you need to understand and work in this field.

Entry Requirements Typical Offer: Applications are welcomed from students with Edexcel/SQA, HND, a relevant Foundation Degree, Advanced Diploma, Chinese Dazhuan Diploma.

Postgraduate Business Studies Degrees

From international business management to analytics and social innovation, our postgraduate business studies and entrepreneurship programmes allow you to broaden your knowledge and boost your career prospects.

MSc Business Analytics will equip you with the quantitative and qualitative techniques needed to understand and engage with complex data as well as the analytical tools to drive business advantage. You will deepen your knowledge of business analytics, decision-making within given contexts, business and systems analysis, and management consultancy with a view to using that knowledge to improve the decision-making process in business.

Entry Requirements: Recognised first or second class honours degree (or equivalent). Relevant work experience and related professional qualifications considered on an individual basis. International students to meet IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent). 

The world’s economy is increasingly global. As a result, demand continues to grow for individuals who understand the global context of business: from logistics and cross-border investments to the cultural and ethical issues in the practice of international business.

Entry Requirements: Recognised first or second class honours degree (or equivalent). No work experience is required. International students to meet IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent).

MA Social Innovation has been designed to offer a distinctive, innovative qualification that builds skills and competence within the social enterprise sector, alongside developing investable and marketable socially enterprising solutions which address unmet social needs in original and innovative ways.

Entry Requirements: Recognised first or second class honours degree (or equivalent). An interview is also required as part of the application process. International students to meet IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.
