Records Management Office
The Records Management Office (RMO) is responsible for the management of the records and information produced by the University as it carries out its business. The RMO provides advice, guidance and training for all University staff and ensures that policies, procedures and best practice guidelines are readily available for appropriate use. We ensure that the records of the institution are:
- kept securely
- accessible for as long as they are needed
- disposed of in accordance with the University’s Classification and Retention Schedule
Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection
Additionally, the RMO has responsibility for answering requests made under the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations, as well as those made under the Data Protection Act. By co-ordinating the gathering of the information requested and formulating the responses the RMO ensures that all requests are treated in a fair and consistent manner.
The RMO also provides advice and guidance for the University’s Publication Scheme which provides public access to information about the University.
The University of Northampton Archive
The University of Northampton Archive is also managed by the RMO. The Archive is available for use by all staff and students of the University as well as by researchers and the general public. The Archive is open Monday to Thursday 9:30am to 4:00pm, by appointment only and visits need to be booked with the RMO
