The Students

The Up for The Cup project has been delivered in collaboration with Hubbub, with University of Northampton 2nd Year Advertising & Digital Marketing BA (Hons) students playing an integral role in the campaigns’ delivery.

The students were tasked with the responsibility of devising a yearlong marketing campaign to support the successful launch and delivery of the campaign in Northampton. The students worked under the supervision of the Project Officer, Emma Stone and Course Leader Kardi Somerfield. The students also liaised with the official partners across the duration of the campaign.

Some activities undertaken by the students involved; meeting with Beach Marketing to produce promotional material, such as posters to be displayed within Northampton, holding meetings with the official partners to organise launch activities, writing press releases and being interviewed by local radio station NLive radio and bringing the campaign mascot – Cuppy, to life!

Overall, working on the campaign was an insightful and educational experience for all the students involved. Here is what some of the students had to say:

“’Working on the campaign gave me an insight in the end-to-end processes involved in planning a project. Meeting and working with the suppliers was an eye-opener on the creative process.” – Creagh

“Working on the campaign was very empowering. I enjoyed every aspect of it and gained valuable skills which will help with my career progression. I had the opportunity to write a press release which was published on the University site and speak about the project live on radio.” – Lorraine

“The project was extremely hands-on and enabled me to build my professional network. I felt a great sense of achievement seeing my work come to life in my local town. I have a keen interest in copywriting and being able to work on The Up for The Cup site has really developed my skillset. It has also been a great experience to discuss at job interviews.” Tassneem

“This live client project was a great learning opportunity. I was able to practice my graphic design skills, as well as my communication skills. I would love to have an experience like this again.” – Chloe
