An exciting, interactive, fun and inspiring day themed around STEAM – combining and exploring the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths careers. We welcome back exhibitors, shows and workshops from Dr Emily Grossman, RS Component’s Titan II truck, Atomic Science, Bloodhound, Medical Mavericks, University of Northampton, Nissan, Santa Pod, Pallite and many others to this flagship event for Northamptonshire schools, which saw 3,000 visitors last year! Take a look at last year’s event… 

  • Event opens to year 6 children ONLY from 9.30am
  • Secondary schools and colleges from 11am (No early entries permitted)
  • Event closes at 3pm

Workshops will be bookable in advance, with many interactive exhibitions and activities, such as the 3D Immersive Experiences space domes and Lemon Pop art activities, on the floor!

The Library Team are offering, following a very successful first year, FREE school opportunities to work with them on libraries; from organisation to tailored CPD for staff and students involved in the school library. They will have the opportunity to engage in a range of interactive activities as individuals and attend workshops in their school groups.

Brief description:

This series of workshops led by UoN Creative Writing students are intended to fire the imagination of your children within the world of creative writing. Event: Changemaker Award

Brief description:

The Changemaker Award recognises, supports and celebrates the empowerment of young people in making innovative and positive change in their school and local community. (read more option here) The award follows a structured yet flexible pathway for groups to plan, develop and initiate projects while developing and sharing new skills with an emphasis on empathy.

There is no limit to the number of awards your school can take part in at one time and is open to any group of students, e.g. an after school club, a year group or the school council. The award pathway is supported by free workshops facilitated by UoN students and staff.

Event: Debating Skills with Noisy Classrooms

Open to – Widening participation schools in Northamptonshire

Dates:

  • Tuesday 30 October – Training day for five pupils, and 2 teachers per school
  • Tuesday 4 December – Debating competition day for all participants

The Autumn term offers opportunities for year 8 students and school staff to learn more about debating and oracy skills, with a debating training day led by Noisy Classrooms, resources provided to schools and ending with an inter-school competition at the end of term! Event: #IDEK assemblies

Brief description The #IDEK performance inspires, stimulates and provokes year 8’s into considering the choices they make, in and out of the classroom. We will be offering #IDEK to schools in the Autumn term tour, FREE to schools in Northants! Last year saw an incredibly successful tour of 18 performances across the County with the year 8 ‘options’ show, called #IDEK (I don’t even know).

Brief description:

The successful UNI Club will be continuing in the Spring term. This is a project for more able year 9 students, working with and supported by our PhD students on a six-week programme, to extend and enrich their learning.  Students attend a launch event at UoN to introduce the programme, meet the UNI Club team and to experience our University campus.  The workshops take place in schools, for six consecutive weeks. At the end of this, students are expected to submit a 1,000 word assignment linked to their topic.  Previous topics have included social media, immigration, gothic literature and environmental science. UNI Club celebrations take place in schools in early Summer term.
