New students at the University of Northampton can choose to live on-campus in halls of residence or off-campus in private rented accommodation.

Living in halls of residence

A popular choice for first year and international students, the University of Northampton's halls of residence are the perfect environment to make new friends and develop your independence, as well as being conveniently located for access to our library and the campus bar - perfect for study and socialising! With over 2,100 bed spaces in our halls across Park campus, Avenue campus and Northampton town centre, we offer a selection of different room types to suit all budgets.

All our student rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe, bookshelf, chair and bin and the main utility bills for heating, lighting, water and electricity are included in your rent. Your room will have network and WiFi access, providing links to the University computer network.

You can take a virtual tour to help you choose between our different halls of residence.

Applying for halls

Applications to live in halls of residence at the University of Northampton for the 2014/15 academic year should be completed online. Applications will open at the end of April 2014 and will be considered in the order that they are received. You can find advice and guidance on the application process in our guide to completing the online application.

Priority applications for halls

If you have disability-related accommodation needs, you can make a priority application to live in halls of residence.

We will look at any reasonable adaptations that need to be made to improve access in our halls of residence. For more information please contact Additional Student Support and Inclusion Services Team (ASSIST) or Accommodation Services.

International students

All first year international students are eligible to apply to live in halls of residence at the University of Northampton. Applications will be considered in the order that they are received. You can buy a bedding pack by ordering one on your application form, which will cost approximately £25.

You will live in flats with up to nine other students, usually from a mixture of other countries. You will have your own room - some twin rooms are available, but you will share kitchen facilities and bathrooms. You can request a room in a female only block, or a female only flat in mixed-sex halls.

Residential Life Team

If you have any questions when you arrive at your hall, the Residential Life Team will be available to help. Look out for them over the welcome weekend - they'll be wearing bright red hooded tops and are there to make you feel at home! The team are then available throughout the year to help with any issues you might have during your time in halls.
