What is the Centre of Excellence Logistics and Supply?

The Centre for Excellence Logistics and Supply (CELAS) is a University of Northampton Business School led education and research unit, which employs expertise in the areas of holistic end to end supply chain modelling (Raw to Store & Waste), Lean management and Six sigma process implementation, Logistics and Supply Chain infrastructure planning, Operations systems design, Reverse logistics and returns management, Strategic procurement analysis and SCM planning. It [CELAS] has a track record of research which includes European commission FP7 multi modal pan-European review and design, Farm to fork food supply chain analysis, Supply chain crime risk & resilience, Global infrastructure analysis and recently commissioned local Government Logistics strategy development review.

CELAS is staffed by ex-industry professionals from a broad spectrum of logistics, supply chain, sustainable waste and related functions up to board level. Furthermore, the group sits on the logistics strategy board for the Northamptonshire county, has deep rooted relations with major global companies from both an educational and research perspective and has close working relationships to professional bodies (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport and Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply). This mix of industry expertise, immersion with global business, local Government and professional body involvement permits the underpinning of theoretical aspects of the logistics and supply chain industry to couple with a deep understanding of the desires and operational needs of the modern day globalised supply chain in delivering on its future strategic objectives.
