University wins employer award from the Royal National Institute for the Blind

Date 13.11.2015

The Award, which will be presented at a ceremony on June 20, is given to employers who demonstrate outstanding support to RNIB College learners. Members of the University’s Library and Learning Services team have been working with the RNIB College on a variety of employability initiatives over the past year, and the relationship is set to be built upon in the future.

The University invited RNIB students to Park Campus in February to find out how a University library works, and one RNIB College student was offered a placement opportunity within the team.

Jenny Townend, Learning Support Specialist at the University, commented: “Working with the staff and learners at the RNIB College has been fun, interesting and a genuine pleasure. I feel that we now have a great relationship which we can build upon in the future.” Jenny has also taken part in mock interviews with RNIB College students, and represented the University of Northampton at employer information events.

The awards ceremony will take place on 20 June between 5:30 and 7:30pm at RNIB College in Loughborough. For more details about the RNIB College and their Employer Partnerships, visit their website.
