University of Northampton Professor invited to contribute social enterprise legislation review

Date 12.11.2015

The Community Interest Company (CIC) is a governance model used by many social enterprises in the UK. The Government is considering changes to the CIC model and because of the University of Northampton’s expertise and activities in the social enterprise sector, Professor Denny has been asked to contribute to the panel.

Professor Denny said: “The technical panel will be considering evidence gathered from CICs and from the Cabinet Office’s Red Tape Challenge consultation and it will then recommend any changes to the CIC model that are needed. Being asked to be a member of the BIS technical panel is a clear sign that the Government recognises that Northampton is now a major player in social enterprise in the UK.”
