University lecturer elected as Head of the Interior Educators Council

​Congratulations to James Engel, Subject Leader for Architecture and 3D Design, who has been elected as the Head of the Interior Educators Council – the national subject association for all interior courses in the UK.

Formed in Manchester in 2006, the Interior Educators Council achieved charity status in 2012 and consists of all  UK-based undergraduate BA (Hons) Interior courses. The Council meets twice a year and holds an annual conference, publishing its work to an international audience. As well as representing UK interests in the discipline, the Council also provides an international platform for debate and the exchange of ideas and practice effecting the education of designers of interior space.

James will be responsible for chairing the Council, which includes developing strategy, and supporting and implementing initiatives realised by the five other chairs. As Head of the Council, James has a floating role, with a good overview of all aspects of the Interior Educators Council and is able to direct strategy as agreed with the trustees.

The Head of the Council is co-opted onto the board of trustees in an advisory capacity. Chairs of areas will be bestowed for a period of five years, subject to re-election.
