University expert invited to join Technical Working Group

Date 12.11.2015

Dr Terry Tudor, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Science and Technology, has been invited to join an European panel of waste management experts.

The European Commission’s Waste Management Technical Working Group will sit within the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, and be tasked with developing an Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) document for the waste management sector in Europe. The group will propose and provide feedback on best environmental management practices and will draw conclusions on specific environmental performance indicators and benchmarks of excellence in this particular sector.

An initial meeting of the group will take place in Leuven, Belgium at the end of September 2015, and it is anticipated that the EMAS document should be ready by the end of 2016.

Dr Tudor commented: “Being a member of this Working Group will not only enable me to make a contribution to the development of a key EU document, it will also provide me with a great opportunity for networking for future projects.”
