Trevor Baylis OBE, inventor of the revolutionary Clockwork Radio, recently entertained an invited audience of 80 senior manufacturing managers at a special business breakfast arranged by The University of Northampton to promote Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).

As well as the presentation by Trevor, which focussed on the trials and tribulations of inventing, and the importance of patents protection, the event on 15th March highlighted the KTP scheme, a Government-funded initiative helping companies apply The University of Northampton's knowledge and expertise to important business problems.

Following the breakfast and well received presentations, attendees at the occasion were able to ask questions of Trevor, and also find out more about the potential benefits offered by KTPs.

Amongst the audience was Andrew Storrar, Managing Director of Andrew Storrar & Associates, a company specialising in competitive design and manufacturing. He commented:

''There's a wonderful opening here. I welcome that and I'm full of enthusiasm for the University. New Universities have a tremendous opportunity to make real strides in the business and industry worlds where they can apply their expertise.''

Steve Pillinger of ZLT Automation Ltd added:

''This was one of the best business events I've been to. It highlights the tenacity and need in this country to bring ideas to fruition.''

University Business Development Manager, John Jones, concluded:

''As expected, our latest business breakfast was a sell-out yet again amongst the county's business leaders, who came to hear how The University of Northampton can help make a real difference to companies' bottom line profits.''
