New partnership between Business Club and the University

Date 29.01.2016

The University of Northampton is pleased to announce an alliance with The Business Club Northants that will provide major opportunities and benefits for both students and club members.

One of the main challenges taken up by the University for 2015-2020 is to ‘Make Northamptonshire the best county in the UK to start, build and run a business.’

Mike Willis, CEO of The Business Club Northants, commented: “We are looking forward to helping the university achieve this particular challenge whereby our members will be invited to provide work experience for selected students on a regular basis.

“Members of the Business Club will benefit from the advice and support of the university-led Northamptonshire Growth Hub. Several member companies will partner with the Growth Hub and the University Enterprise Club to take part in business presentations at the university, covering different aspects of business and will be pleased to offer guidance to students.

“We have an excellent record of having introduced a massive amount of new business within the county during the last eight years and we also have an enviable reputation for helping new businesses develop, so we are delighted to form this alliance as many of our goals mirror those of the University of Northampton and of Northamptonshire Growth Hub”.

Nick Petford, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Northampton, said: “This alliance offers excellent opportunities for the university and businesses in the county to work together to develop talent, bring fresh ideas and techniques into businesses and support business growth through recruitment of high-quality and knowledgeable graduates.”

The Business Club Northants is now in its ninth year and boasts a diverse membership ranging from start-ups to a global company with 800 employees. With well-attended meetings on three different evenings around the county at quality venues each month the club offers both business networking and the opportunity to hear excellent speakers on various subjects.

Guests are welcome to attend for a £15 fee and will enjoy a hot meal in a very friendly atmosphere.

Associate companies include ACS, Stanair Industrial Doors, DBfB communications, Home Instead, Business Times, The Fuel Card Group, Davis Optometrists, Northampton Town FC and Eldraw Video Productions.
