Leather alumni association holds its first meeting – in India

Date 7.02.2020

Alumni from the University of Northampton’s Institute for Creative Leather Technology (ICLT) met up at a trade fair in India.

The Corium Club, the association for alumni of the University’s ICLT and its predecessor colleges, held its first meeting in Chennai on Sunday 2 February.

Members from India and a range of other countries were in the city to attend the 2020 India International Leather Fair. Those who attended, including leather industry professionals who completed the course as long ago as the 1960s, said they would like to make the meeting an annual event.

As the senior alumnus present, Stephen Trantum of Trumpler delivered an address at the meeting, inviting members to toast the new ICLT facility, which opened at Waterside campus last year. He thanked ICLT director, Rachel Garwood, for the hard work she and her team had put into the project.

Rachel said: “It was great to see so many alumni at the India International Leather Fair, with many attending the reunion for a catch-up and to reminisce about their student days.

“We also welcomed a new student applicant who came to the meeting with his parents. He is due to start the course this coming September. The Corium alumni shared lots of stories with him and made him feel welcome.”
