University Law team take part in legal walk, raising £3,000 to fund legal support

Date 27.04.2016

The University of Northampton Law team took part in the Northampton Legal Walk on Monday 25 April, helping to raise nearly £3,000 which will provide free legal advice to those who cannot afford it.

The University’s academics joined the Student Law Society, chambers, law firms, law schools and advice organisations from across the town for the event, which saw participants walk a 9.5km route around town. The walk started at Northampton Combined Court in Lady’s Lane and ended at Hewitsons Solicitors on Billing Road, where the walkers enjoyed a finish line celebration.

Half of the funds raised by the University of Northampton will support the Pro Bono Legal Advice Clinic (run in conjunction with Citizens Advice and Shoosmiths), and the rest will go to the Midlands Legal Support Trust which gives financial support to legal advice organisations to make sure that the organisations can continue to provide free legal advice to the most vulnerable members of society.

The event had a fundraising target of £3,000 and there still time to pledge money by clicking here.
