Graduate wins BAFTA for breakthrough talent

Date 11.11.2015

Jon Brown, who graduated in BA English, BA American Studies and BA History from The University of Northampton, picked up the ‘Break-through Talent’ accolade from the BAFTA Television Craft Awards recently.

Jon, who is based in Olney, Buckinghamshire, commented:

“I’m not going to lie, I was really desperate to win it. When the nominations were first announced I was just glad to be in the running, but by the time the ceremony rolled around I was all about the statue.

“It’s a nice yardstick, and it’s great to get some recognition, but I’m aware it’s a ‘newcomer’ award. I want to make sure I keep writing and keep on improving so I can show the people at BAFTA that they made the right choice.”

Mongrels is a British puppet-based situation comedy, first broadcast on BBC3 in 2010. Jon is currently writing on Misfits for E4 and Fresh Meat, the new show from the writers behind C4’s Peep Show.
