Degree Show: Budding fashion designer Laura to showcase her catwalk collection

Date 10.06.2016

After being part of a successful catwalk show at Graduate Fashion Week, budding designer, Laura Budryte will be showing her final year collection at the University of Northampton’s Degree Show.

The 22-year-old originally hails from Lithuania but now lives in Peterborough and has used the theme of identity throughout her work after researching why some people want to hide their identity and the reason why they may change their appearance. The aim of her collection is to help women to step out their shell and show their true identity.

Laura said: “I have been working with a lot of leather and using laser cutting for the first time which has been quite tricky. It took a while to get it right, but I am now very confident in using both.

“I am also designing my own shoes for my collection so it was good that in our first year we had the opportunity to sample all fashion pathways, which included textiles and footwear.

“During my three years of studying at the University of Northampton, I have learnt to be independent, make my own decisions and even if things don’t go to plan, never give up. In the future, I would love to launch my own fashion brand, but after I graduate, I plan to get as much industry experience as possible.”

Laura’s work will be featured along with other students from a variety of courses from the School of The Arts at this year’s Degree Show. This will be running from Saturday 11 to Sunday 19 June at the University’s Avenue Campus.
