Clearing line open for vocational and mature students

Date 8.07.2019

Vocational course students and potential mature students can get ahead of their peers and secure the degree of their choice through the University’s Clearing line, which is now open.

Clearing allows applicants to find courses which haven’t been filled for the new academic year, and is also used by those who are applying late for a course, or if they are a mature student.

Although Clearing is traditionally associated with August’s A-level results day – allowing applicants to find courses which haven’t been filled for the next academic year – the University of Northampton’s Clearing line has been opened early so that students on vocational courses, such as a BTEC, and who already have their results, as well as their older peers who are thinking about taking up a degree, can talk with the University’s dedicated advice team and sign-up for the degree of their choice.

Lauretta Ofulue (pictured above), who is studying Learning Disability Nursing, went through Clearing in 2017: “The Clearing process was very straightforward. I filled out the forms online and uploaded all the relevant documents. After a few weeks I was contacted and invited for an interview and was offered a place on the course. After my first year at Northampton, I’m delighted to be on such an amazing course.”

Paramedic Science student Carla Allen-Wright went through Clearing last year: “Clearing was easier than I thought it was going to be. The step-by-step guide is easy to follow, and there are multiple guidance pages to help. It didn’t take long at all.”

Would-be students are also invited to attend the University’s next Open Day, which takes place on Saturday 13 July.
