Top speakers contribute to healthcare waste seminar this March

The Healthcare Waste and Resources Research Group will be hosting a CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified seminar at The University of Northampton on Wednesday 30 March 2011.

The event will feature speakers tackling a range of issues related to the management of healthcare waste in the UK, including:

• The impact of reorganisation of the NHS on the commissioning of services - Chris Naylor of the King's Fund
• Revisions to the Health Technical Memorandum HTM:07-01 - Mrs Lorraine Holme from the Department of Health
• Policies and regulations - Chris Lowe from the Environment Agency
• Lessons to be learnt from preparing for the London 2012 Olympics - Jamie Smith from Veolia Environmental Services

In addition to the presentations, delegates will have the opportunity to experience the NVision 3D modelling and visualisation facilities, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and based within the University's School of Science and Technology. Delegates can also engage in networking opportunities with other stakeholders in the field. The registration fee is £75 (until 18 March 2011) and £85 after this date. The student fee is £20.

The seminar is targeting individuals and organisations involved in the management of waste including those working in waste management or infection control from the National Health Service, the waste management industry, local authorities, facilities management and academics.

The Healthcare Waste and Resources Research Group is a network of stakeholders from various organisations working in the healthcare waste management sector, including from the NHS, industry and academia. It is hosted by The University of Northampton and aims to promote an evidence-based approach to the management of the waste.
