University shapes the future of food and drink with new research programme
Published Tuesday 1st February 2011
Food lovers are in for a treat this February as The University of Northampton launches an exciting research programme.
The research programme brings together experts from across the world for a two day launch event dedicated to food and drink.
The 'Strategic Visioning' event, being held at Sunley Management Centre from 8-9 February, is for experts from across the industry, including growers, manufacturers, retailers, caterers, regulators, consumers and academics.
It marks the start of a three year University-led research programme, and will feature a line up of keynote speakers and interactive workshops - all designed to explore the major drivers of change in the industry and provide insight into the latest trends from around the world.
Delegates from Spain and Italy are already registered to add an international flavour.
This exciting and highly innovative research programme is based on one carried out in the hotel sector in the 1990s, which had far reaching and global impact. Like that programme, we aim to be global in scale with parallel events planned across the world which will feed into our research and shape our findings.

As part of the launch event, guests will also be treated to a stunning line-up of tastes and smells.
Northampton born Michelin star chef Adam Gray will be partnering with Sunley's head chef Lanzel Harris to cook up a treat for the Gala Dinner on the first night and on the second day, Lanzel will be preparing a working lunch consisting entirely of local produce - many winners in the Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards.
This event will mark the launch of our exciting research programme in which we will be working in partnership with the Institute of Directors, the University of Lincoln, the Open University of Catalunya, the East Midlands Food and Drink Forum, as well as the Food & Drink iNet and Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd to make this important event happen.

Sunley Management Centre is delighted to support Northampton Business School's first Strategic Visioning conference. I am absolutely thrilled that Michelin-starred chef Adam Gray has chosen to work in our venue with Sunley's Head Chef Lanzel Harris and Hospitality Supervisor Arun Abraham - a great endorsement for the skills and expertise at Sunley.
