Microsoft, rated as one of the top employers in the world, was keen to engage with students from Northampton Business School and the School of Science and Technology.

The Careers Day was initiated by a graduate of Northampton Business School; Farhin Kahn, BA (Hons) Business Information Systems, who is now enjoying a career at Microsoft as a Premier Field Engineer.

Students were given a range of presentations around the theme of Technical Career opportunities at Microsoft by members of Microsoft Premier Field Engineering Team. This team included Sue Osborne & Jane Lewis, as well as Farhin Khan.

Whilst at the University, Microsoft demonstrated the latest technology including the Windows Phone 7. Rafal Kwiek, currently a student intern at Microsoft, also highlighted the range of freely accessible software students could download from www.dreamspark.com. After the presentations, students were given the opportunity to attend a lively networking event with the Microsoft team to discuss career opportunities with the company and to review their CVs.

Inspired by Farhin's business acumen, technical knowledge and her positive and passionate drive, Sue Osborne said of the visit to the University:

This was a fantastic opportunity to engage with students to tell them of the range of great opportunities a technical career at Microsoft provides. We hope this is the beginning of a long relationship with The University of Northampton. We thank them for making us so welcome and thank the students for asking some really excellent questions about career opportunities at Microsoft.
