Professor Nick Petford, Vice Chancellor of The University of Northampton, will be rowing 21-miles along the River Thames in aid of the University’s Chancellor’s Fund.
Nick will be taking to the water this Saturday (25 September) in London's annual Great River Race, rowing 21-miles along the River Thames in aid of the University's Chancellor's Fund.
This is the second year Nick has participated in the Great River Race. The event attracts around 300 crews from across the globe and appeals to every level of competitor, from fun rowers in fancy dress, to serious sports men and women who like to win.
Nick explained: "Last year, our four-man crew of ex Royal Marine commandos completed the course in 3 hours 30 minutes, and we're determined to do even better this time.
"Having formally taken over as Vice Chancellor at The University of Northampton earlier this month, the Great River Race offers me an early opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause in our Chancellor's fund - a vital initiative which supports our students with awards, hardship, scholarships, equipment and training."
