As well as receiving their degree awards, an additional ceremony was held for the Acting graduates, their friends and families, where individual prizes were presented by Martin Lawrence - a University Foundation Trustee and patron of The School of the Arts, and Danni Parr - Associate Director from The Royal & Derngate Theatre.

Two students, Wayne Ingram and Rachel Smith, were given the inaugural 'Martin Lawrence Acting Award'. Chosen by Acting tutors, this was in recognition of the students' abilites in a specific production to convince and compel an audience through their technique and talent.

Martin Lawrence commented:

The BA Acting course represents all that is good about the student experience at The University of Northampton. It is supported by dedicated staff and provides and enables students to explore and come to terms with both the theoretical and practical requirements of their trade.

Students Rachael Cummins, Laura Stuart and Kelly Steele were also given prizes for achieving the 'Highest Grade Average' throughout their time studying Acting at The University of Northampton, while Ben Groves was voted 'Student of the Year' by his peers.

Sally Cook, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Acting at The University of Northampton, said:

This was a hugely successful and fitting end to the three years of hard work that the students had finally completed. Congratulations should be given to all the students, especially the award winners. We hope to hear great things from them as they enter the wonderful and challenging industry that is show business!
