Fine Art at The University of Northampton

Scale is a lively and diverse exhibition of work by a group of artists in the East Midlands, celebrating the broad variety of forms which represent contemporary art practice. Painting, sculpture, installation, projection and active drawing are seen together in this remarkable space where diversity and dialogue are welcomed.

The artists are participants on Connect@Northants, a programme which supports artists in developing their professional careers - generously funded by the Arts Council and being run by the University of Derby in collaboration with The University of Northampton. The artists are all currently studying the postgraduate certificate - Connect@Northants - which is delivered at Avenue Campus and the Fishmarket.

In its time, the Connect programme has operated in different parts of the East Midlands - Nottingham, Leicester and Lincoln. In previous incarnations, it has helped to build up networks of practitioners in these cities, and has successfully launched the careers of the participants not just in the East Midlands, but also nationally and internationally.

The exhibiting artists are: Liz Anelli; Wendy Brooks; Martin Lewis; Tracey McMaster; Peter Slack; Anne E Watt; Viv Dixon; Jennifer Hackett; Nita Nathwani; Beth Shapeero and Alison Whitmore. The exhibition is curated by Karl Hobbs, from The University of Northampton's School of The Arts.

Scale opens from 6 - 9pm on Friday 10 September and runs until Friday 8 October 2010 at the Northampton Fishmarket, Bradshaw Street, NN1 2HL. Entrance to the exhibition is free. For further information, please visit www.scale2010.com
