The Northamptonshire Branch of The Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) recently presented awards to students of Northampton Business School (NBS) for their achievements and hard work
The CIPD is Europe's largest Human Resources development professional body, supporting and developing those responsible for the management and development of people within organisations. NBS offers a range of CIPD approved qualifications including the Certificate Human Resource Management (HRM), the Postgraduate Diploma in HRM and MA HRM. The MA/PG Diploma HRM is aimed at providing high level qualifications for those working in the HRM field, as well as those wanting to develop a career in this area.
Year 3 student Jo-Anne Tillie received an award for outstanding achievement; she has worked for the John Lewis Partnership since 1991 in a variety of roles including, for the last six years, personnel. She currently focuses on the distribution area of the business. Initially, Jo-Anne dealt mainly with policy and procedures and was responsible for working closely with managers to achieve best practice and consistency. She decided to study for a formal qualification to develop her career and make herself a strong candidate in any restructure.
She has since taken on a new role as a Regional Development and Procedures Manager, focusing on management development, as well as continuing with her previous responsibilities. She has been able to work on a wide range of projects at John Lewis and plans to remain with the organisation.
I am such a fan of the way they do business, and I want to be part of that in the future too.
