Northampton chosen as venue for prestigious international symposium

The high profile China - Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education is being held in the UK for the very first time – seven years after it was first launched in China.
The University of Northampton has been chosen as the coveted venue for this two day event, sponsored by Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd, set to take place in the Newton Building on Avenue Campus on Monday 23 May and Tuesday 24 May 2011.
Delegates from across Europe and China will be travelling to Northampton for the event - to spend two days focusing on green technologies and the role of higher education in developing sustainable green IT solutions and increasing public awareness.
Dr Scott Turner, Senior Lecturer at The University of Northampton in Science and Technology - Computing, said:
This is a real coup for the UK and for Northampton and we are delighted to be hosting this event.
"In 2011 we aim to further develop and perfect software industry oriented education in both China and Europe.

Topics under discussion will include e-learning and support tools, the innovation and evaluation of software education, quality assurance, green computing and co-operation models for industries and software education.
This annual event is organised by members of the EMERSION project (Education to Meet the Requirements of Software Industry and Beyond -- Establishing, Implementing and Evaluating an Industry Oriented Education Model in China), in collaboration with Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in Ireland and Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in China.
