Northampton Assessment Centre
The University of Northampton has an independent Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA) Assessment Centre, the Northampton Assessment Centre (NAC). The assessment centre is open to all higher education students eligible for the DSA and is located at Park Campus.
The DSA is a grant that can help with additional study costs incurred as a direct result of a disability such as a physical disability, a mental health difficulty, long-term illness or a specific learning difference such as dyslexia.
DSAs are available to many full-time and part-time students with disabilities, both undergraduates and postgraduates, although part-time students must be studying at least 50% of a full-time course.
A DSA assessment will assess each student's individual needs and make recommendations as to the additional support they require. The information for applicants with disabilities gives an overview of the range of support available at The University of Northampton.
DSA assessments through the NAC are also available at the Indigo Dyslexia Centre in Norwich. This allows students who have specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia) and are based around Norfolk the opportunity to have their assessment locally, whilst still being seen by a trained assessor working through the NAC.
All staff and associates working with the NAC have enhanced CRB checks.
