Northamptonshire Voluntary Youth Action
The School of Social Sciences at The University of Northampton runs a scheme which supports young people aged 13 to 25 in getting involved in volunteering.
Northamptonshire Voluntary Youth Action (NVYA) supports young people by:
-
Providing information and guidance about volunteering
-
Finding volunteering opportunities that suit each individual's interests
-
Enabling young people who have never volunteered before to try volunteering
-
Helping young volunteers get actively involved in designing volunteering opportunities and youth led projects
-
Supporting organisations to develop new, or extend existing, volunteering programmes
Young people aged 13 to 15 gain local recognition for their volunteering through working towards certificates at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
NVYA supports young people aged 16 to 25 in joining the National Youth Volunteer Programme, vinspired, where they gain recognition and reward for volunteering. NVYA helps young people to register, plan, do and review their volunteering.
NVYA aim to work with young people who have never volunteered before or are vulnerable to social exclusion, but all young people within the age range are welcome to participate.
