International Studies Research Group

Is it still possible to speak of universal standards of justice, ethics, political and cultural practices or even knowledge in an age where difference appears increasingly as the norm? The International Studies Research Group brings together academics who, in a variety of ways, engage with the unfolding tensions between universality and the particular in the contemporary world. Against this background, the Group is concerned broadly with questions of identity, representation and Otherness in a global context.
