The aim of the Radioactivity in Built and Natural Environment: Processes, Hazards and Human Impacts at The University of Northampton is to identify best practice in radon measurements and remediation methodology and to drive health strategy and policy formation to reduce the radiation dose to the public.
Research in this area is carried out within the Natural Environment Research Group (NERG).

Radioactivity in Built and Natural Environment: Processes, Hazards and Human ImpactsThis area contributed to The University of Northampton's submission to the Allied Health Professions and Studies unit of assessment for the Research Assessment Exercise 2008, where 35% of the research activity was recognised as 'internationally excellent' or 'internationally recognised' and 5% as 'world-leading'.
