Department for Enhanced Learning, Teaching, Achievement and Employability

The Department for Enhanced Learning, Teaching, Achievement and Employability (DeltaE) aims to enrich the student learning experience by promoting and supporting the enhancement of learning and teaching. The department plays a key role in fostering the deployment of the latest pedagogy and academic support for learners from an increasingly diverse range of backgrounds, enhancing the university's pedagogic practice and supporting the provision of opportunities for students to develop the characteristics of the Northampton Graduate.

DeltaE brings together staff with responsibility for careers and employability, community volunteering, Personal Development Planning (PDP), development of students' academic skills, further education and higher education partnership activity and off-site learning, widening participation, equality and diversity, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), learning and teaching enhancement and innovation and pedagogic research in higher education.

The department's broad range of activities include:

  • Engaging in, and supporting, pedagogic research, scholarship and evidence-based practice in higher education
  • Supporting students to make informed decisions about their future careers and to articulate the skills they have gained through their experience at university
  • Facilitating the dissemination of effective practice to support the retention, progression and achievement of students
  • Promoting external collaboration and engaging with national projects, consultancy and evaluation, maintaining and further developing links with national bodies, networks and groups
  • Supporting continuing professional development for all staff that influence learning and teaching, including the annual Learning and Teaching Conference
  • Encouraging students and staff to engage in activities which positively impact on the community
  • Involving the student as co-producer in learning
