NILE upgrade 2011
What's happening?
As part of our regular programme of NILE maintenance and improvements, this summer there will be two short periods when work will be completed.
When is it happening?
On the 2/3 August, NILE will be linked to the staff / student login system so that you will have the same password and email address on NILE as you have for other institutional systems. NILE may be unavailable for short periods while this work is carried out.
On Sunday 7 August between 1am and 1pm, the Blackboard software that underpins NILE will be upgraded to the latest service pack. NILE will be unavailable during this time.
More details on the changes can be found on the upgrade details page.
What do I need to do?
To ensure the changes are a smooth process and avoid any confusion, it is important that all users (students and staff) complete the following steps before 2 August:
1) Ensure your password for NILE is the same as your staff / student IT password and is secure:- You can change your IT password at www.northampton.ac.uk/user. You may want to review the advice on creating strong passwords before making any changes
- You can change your password in NILE by logging in and clicking on the My Places link (top of the NILE screen) and then on Personal Information > Change Password. Type your new password in both boxes and click Submit to save your changes
2) Check your University registered email address and your NILE registered email address match and are correct:
- You should check the email address that the University has recorded for you on the Student Record System. If this is not correct, you should contact your Student Admin Team urgently to get it amended, as this will be used for communication over the summer, including information about re-enrolment
- You can also check your email address in NILE, via My Places > Personal Information > Edit Personal Information. To change it, simply type the correct email address in the Email field, and click Submit to save your changes
