Entry requirements

The University usually makes offers in terms of a UCAS Tariff points score, with typical offers being between 240 and 280 points. Sometimes a specified grade in a relevant A level subject is also required with the overall tariff score. Any specific requirements are outlined in the course information.

Applicants should hold one of the following qualifications:

• GCE/VCE Advanced Level
  • Two passes at GCE A level or;
  • One pass at GCE A level and one pass at Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE) or;
  • One pass in an GCE A level Double Award or;
  • One pass in an Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE) Double Award or;
  • Two passes at Advanced Vocational Certificates of Education (AVCE).

• EDEXCEL/BTEC/SCOTVEC
  • Pass in an appropriate National Diploma or Certificate

• Progression Diploma or Advanced Diploma
  • Passed at the required standard

• Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art and Design)
  • Pass in the level three diploma
    

• OCR National Diploma
  • Passed at the required standard
    

• A pass in a University Foundation Year

• A pass in the CACHE Diploma in Child Care and Education

• A pass in an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship

• Access course
  • Pass in an approved Access course that has been kite marked by an Authorised Validating Agency.

• Scottish Highers
  • Three Higher level passes

• Irish Leaving Certificate
  • Three Higher level passes at grade C

• International Baccalaureate
  • Pass in the Full Diploma

• Overseas qualifications
  • An equivalent overseas qualification. Please contact the International Office at The University of Northampton for advice.

Higher National Diploma programmes
