  • What will my award title be?

What will my award title be?

What will the title of my final award be?

You should only need to ask this question if you are a Joint Honours student, everyone else should know. This section relates to Joint Honours degrees.

If you are major/minor student your degree will be "Subject X with Subject Y" and if you are a Joint Honours student your degree will be "Subject X and Subject Y".

What would the title be of your intermediate award?

If you take a Diploma of Higher Education or an Ordinary Degree, the award normally carries the title of the corresponding Honours Degree (e.g. Dip. HE Subject X and Subject Y)
The Certificate of Higher Education does not carry a title.

Will it be a BA or a BSc?

All subjects are clearly designated as Science (BSc) or Arts (BA) as you can see from the list below.

In a Joint Honours award, the designation is determined by the relative number of level 5/6 credits in the two named subjects. If you have studied equal amounts of a BSc and a BA subject, you will be awarded a BA.

BSc subjects

The following subjects may be designated as either Science (BSc) or Arts (BA):

What title do these subjects lead to?

In these cases the minor or second subject determines the designation of the award as Science or Arts. Where both subjects are in this list, the student will be awarded a BA
